Hypnosis by Phone
If you are able to follow simple instructions, have an IQ of at least 70, and are willing work together on your
goals, then hypnosis may be for you. It is a natural state that people experience frequently. The most
common is highway hypnosis, or being so involved in a good book or movie, there is an unawareness for
what is going on outside the book or movie. Hypnosis is not new, but in the Western culture has not been
utilized as a primary intervention like it has been in other cultures. It is now becoming in vogue and is seen
as a helpful compliment to traditional treatment for wellness, symptom relief, and habit control. Like any other
medical, dental, or counseling intervention, hypnosis is not guaranteed and should not be thought of as the
"magic bullet" to fix problems. It is a powerful tool that does help many people accomplish goals they thought
they could not accomplish. If you are interested in the following areas, please contact me at (816) 436-2630.

Hypnosis: An altered state
of consciousness
Hypnosis by phone is not appropriate for in depth hypnotherapy or regression sessions. It is
provided for behavior changes or performance enhancement. It is meant to be convenient for individuals who
are unable to come in to the office for hypnosis services. This service is available  for those who have been
seen in the office and are out of town, or unable to come in to the office for a face to face meeting.  If you
interested in exploring the beauty of your subconscious mind, but are unable to come to the office in person,
you may want to consider this method of contact . While sessions in person are the best method, hypnosis by
phone can also be very effective. The process is very simple. If you are interested please call (816) 436-2630
for a free phone consultation. See my
Contact page to set up an appointment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?
•   You call for the free consultation and make an appointment. This  usually takes 10 –  20 minutes.
•   After we establish this method is what you are wanting and can be beneficial to you, I will email some
forms for you to complete and send back to me.
•    I review your intake forms and prepare an individualized session addressing your  identified challenge.
•    When you make your appointment please make sure that you have at least one uninterrupted hour. It
needs to be in a relatively quiet or totally quiet place, where you are able to be comfortable in a lying or
sitting position.
•    You will need a phone with a headset. Newer landline phones have a headphone jack. Some people use
their cell phones since there are free night and weekend minutes.
•    The initial session addresses any concerns and questions you may have. It also focuses on what the
possible sources your identified challenge may be. You identify the benefits in accomplishing your
goal(s) and we work together to determine what actions you are willing to do in order to accomplish your
goal(s). The time allotment for this session is usually takes 45 minutes to 1 hour.
•   The actual Hypnotherapy session takes about  45 minutes to 1 hour.
•   The session is recorded on a 30-45 minute tape, which will be mailed to you.  You can then listen to your
tape as often as you like to reinforce your success.
•    I recommend that you listen to the tape daily for a minimum of 3 weeks thus allowing yourself to adapt to
the new behavior.
•   This works best when you are fully focused on making a change in your life and are willing to participate in
life changes. Using the tape as recommended helps to reinforce a permanent change in the subconscious
mind.
•   Be patient with yourself and allow the new healthy behaviors to become habits.
Clinical Hypnosis
HYPNOSIS
Can I get stuck in a hypnotic state?
No, you cannot get stuck. You will always be able to come out of hypnotic trace whenever you want or need to
do so. You will either go to sleep or come out of trance to a waking state.

I'm afraid I will embarrass myself or do something I do not want to do.
This is probably the concern that is identified most frequently. Again, you remain in control and will not do
anything that is against your morals or values. You can always come out of trance whenever you want to. A
person will not do anything that they are not prone to do on their own. Remember, this is not stage hypnosis,
this is clinical hypnosis and is a part of your therapy or a means to help you accomplish your goal.

I have difficulty relaxing. Do I need to be relaxed in order to be hypnotized?
No, you do not have to be relaxed in order to be hypnotized. Hypnosis is a different level and state of mind.

I have heard it is a form of mind control. Is that true?
No, that is not true. Even though there is a trained hypnotherapist guiding you, the information is something
that you and the therapist have reviewed before the hypnosis session. You are able to come out of trance at
any time. You are aware of everything that is happening around you. Most importantly, your own mind would
never allow you accept something that is against your morals or values.

Is hypnosis a  form of sleep or unconsciousness?
No. Sleep produces different brain waves than hypnosis and unconsciousness absolutely is  a different state
of being. Someone who is unconscious would be unable to respond and interact with the therapist.

I don't think I can be hypnotized.
Most of the population can be hypnotized. Even those who worry they cannot be hypnotized can respond very
well to hypnotherapy. Worry about the process is different from truly believing you cannot be hypnotized.
If a
person does not want to be hypnotized then they won't be hypnotized.
 Anyone can be hypnotized
so as the IQ is at least 70, they are able to follow simple instructions, and they are willing to work together on
a goal.

Can hypnotherapy be guaranteed to work?
In short, no. Hypnotherapy is an intervention just like talk therapy, medication, biofeedback, or any other
therapeutic technique used in counseling.  Your dentist or family doctor also cannot guarantee you will never
need another dental procedure, or that you will never get a cold or the flu again after being treated. Hypnosis
is no different in that respect than other health care and dental care you may receive. Hypnosis is effectively
helping many people address personal goals and life stressors.

How long will this take?
It depends on the person and the issue being addressed. Some issues can be addressed in one session. If
the issue is a life long problem, persistent problem, bad habit, or addiction, it usually takes four to five
sessions.

I've know other people who have tried hypnosis and they said it didn't last. Why didn't it last?
I too have heard a few people say this. I have had a couple of clients that have also said this, but upon further
investigation I found that the individuals did not follow through on what they said they were willing to do to
accomplish their goal.
NO intervention will work if the person does not do their part. The hypnosis absolutely
can get the mind set and motivation where it needs to be for the person to accomplish their goal. I also found
that a couple of people did not complete the number of sessions needed to address the problem. You have
to be willing to follow the treatment plan set up with you. Sometimes there is a resistance from deep within
the person that needs to be addressed through hypnosis. This is one of the reasons why it is important to
attend all the prescribed sessions. The last thing that was missing for these individuals was the follow
through with self hypnosis. Self hypnosis keeps the motivation high and boosts the office session.

Take a few moments to come in and relax. You deserve to treat yourself to a wonderful full body progressive relaxation
using guided imagery, and peaceful music, as you recline in an overstuffed chair. Stress reduction and relaxation helps
the body and mind to rejuvenate, health, and/or  regroup. This type of relaxation is not the same as recreation
relaxation where the mind and body is not allowed to shut down and regroup. In this type of relaxation the person may
be engaging in hobbies, or pleasurable activities that are relatively stress free, but the mind and body are still required
to "do" something. Progressive relaxation allows the mind and body to just be. Come try it sometime. I think you will
enjoy it.

If you are out of town or outside the greater Kansas City, Missouri area, phone contact can be very helpful and
convenient for anyone who needs to unwind, focus, or visualize. Individuals have used this method for preparation in
competitive events, speaking engagements and presentations. It is also helpful for stress reduction and relaxation. If
you are interested in these services please go to the
Contact page and make and appointment.
